As a co-founder and former president of BFI, Ltd, Joe Akers has more than 20 years of experience as an executive and business owner. He has assumed leadership roles and board positions in several civic and religious institutions. In a diverse fundraising career, Joe has raised nearly $60 million dollars, primarily for faith based institutions. He has directed efforts for Jesuit colleges, Benedictine high schools and Abbeys, Catholic parishes, dioceses, and pro-life centers. With an emphasis on major gift cultivation and solicitation, and a campaign management approach based on proven development principles, Joe has lead many successful campaigns.
In leaving the business world to pursue this passion, Joe shares this sentiment, “While we have a professional goal of raising $200 million for the Catholic Church, our real satisfaction is realized in helping a parish reach their goals, complete their project and grow closer together as a parish family.
